Grand Tetons - First Family Camping Trip!

We just got back on Thursday from our first family camping trip! We drove up to the Grand Tetons in an RV we rented and stayed for one week in the Gros Ventre campground. The kids really enjoyed playing in the RV (they probably would have been happy if we had just stayed in the campground the whole time instead of going out to see things and hike!) and it was a good first experience for them with camping.

We have lots of pictures to share, so I am going to share the first two days here. It was a bit rainy our first couple of days, so we didn't get to do all the hiking we were planning. When we first drove through Jackson, we passed right by the park with the antler arches, so we had to get pics of those! Once in the campground, we walked around to explore and found an amphitheater that the kids enjoyed.

The kids performed a little song and dance for us on the stage:

The next day, our first full day in the park, we hiked String Lake & Leigh Lake.

The kids couldn't wait to dip their feet into the lake!! Nothing like stepping into a glacial lake - Gavin didn't like the cold!

We made a couple other stops to look for wildlife.

We got lucky in the afternoon and spotted a herd of Bison making their way across a field!

We also checked out Cunningham Cabin which is the oldest cabin in Jackson Hole.

Avery checking out the hole of a ground squirrel while holding onto her Junior Ranger book.

Back at the campground we went for another walk and discovered a nest of Tent Caterpillars!! We've never heard of them but check out this craziness!

More pictures to come!!

June Updates

Avery got a new two wheel bike for her 3rd Birthday last month...here are a couple videos.

Seeing her bike for the first time and then riding it for first time.

Other than that, we have been keeping busy with Storytime at the library. Here is a pic of them with Snow White who read to them last week.

We also went to an orientation at Gavin's new school where he will be attending Kindergarten in the Fall. They got to meet the teachers (although we won't knew who his teacher is until mid-Summer). And they got to see the classrooms.

Gavin's online preschool, Waterford Upstart, held a graduation ceremony for the kids. So they got a certificate of completion and a treat.

One day after swim lessons we explored a new playground in the area and discovered it also had a splash pad! The kids were ecstatic!

I have also enrolled them in Art Class through the city of Tooele. For their first class they made Owls!

We were finally able to finish up Avery's Growth stick too, so here are a couple pictures showing that.

And here are a couple pictures of the kids being goofy with their Easter glasses.

Phoenix visit

We took the scenic route from San Diego and drove through Phoenix to visit with my parents for a couple days. It was a nice way for the kids to have a little time with Grandparents and also some downtime. Quality time with Grandma, building Lincoln Logs with Grandpa and of course spending time in their little pool!

We also had a small celebration for Avery's Birthday and our friend Christine was able to join us!

On our drive back to Utah, we stopped in Flagstaff for lunch and to play at a playground. This playground had an interesting two person swing!

As we got close to the AZ/UT border, we also stopped at Horseshoe Bend. It was a short 1.5 mile loop to the viewpoint, so a great place to stretch our legs before getting to our hotel in Kanab.

The kids enjoyed some rock climbing near the path and we also saw four wild dogs nearby. The last pic shows them resting in the shade of a rock that looks a lot like a huge pile of poop!

Now we are home and back to regular everyday life!
