Grand Tetons - First Family Camping Trip!

We just got back on Thursday from our first family camping trip! We drove up to the Grand Tetons in an RV we rented and stayed for one week in the Gros Ventre campground. The kids really enjoyed playing in the RV (they probably would have been happy if we had just stayed in the campground the whole time instead of going out to see things and hike!) and it was a good first experience for them with camping.

We have lots of pictures to share, so I am going to share the first two days here. It was a bit rainy our first couple of days, so we didn't get to do all the hiking we were planning. When we first drove through Jackson, we passed right by the park with the antler arches, so we had to get pics of those! Once in the campground, we walked around to explore and found an amphitheater that the kids enjoyed.

The kids performed a little song and dance for us on the stage:

The next day, our first full day in the park, we hiked String Lake & Leigh Lake.

The kids couldn't wait to dip their feet into the lake!! Nothing like stepping into a glacial lake - Gavin didn't like the cold!

We made a couple other stops to look for wildlife.

We got lucky in the afternoon and spotted a herd of Bison making their way across a field!

We also checked out Cunningham Cabin which is the oldest cabin in Jackson Hole.

Avery checking out the hole of a ground squirrel while holding onto her Junior Ranger book.

Back at the campground we went for another walk and discovered a nest of Tent Caterpillars!! We've never heard of them but check out this craziness!

More pictures to come!!
