Spring Break in Idaho!

I am way behind in my postings!! Here are some pics and videos from our roadtrip to Idaho! We had never been to Idaho and it's only about a 4 hour drive away, so it was an easy, last minute Spring Break Trip since we hadn't made any plans yet. The day we left, the new fire station was having an open house down the road from us, so we stopped there for a quick tour before heading out on the road.

We started in Twin Falls and stayed a couple nights to explore the area.

Nice waterfall right outside the restaurant where we had dinner our first night in town.
Carlton, Gavin and Avery hiked up to Balanced Rock.

This is Perrine Bridge which is one of two bridges in the US that allows base jumpers - this one doesn't require permits. Here are some videos we took:

There were lots of waterfalls in the area. Shoshone Falls is a popular spot in Twin Falls but the road to get there was closed when we were in town, so we missed that one. After Twin Falls we went to Hagerman which has Thousand Springs State Park nearby.

I caught site of this marmot right by the water and Avery was so excited to get to see it too!!

Avery has a pained look on her face because she had just scraped her hand on the tree bark but she was trying to smile for the picture!

After Hagerman, we made our way out to Craters of the Moon National Monument. Unfortunately the visitor's center was closed and the road that takes you through most of the park was also closed. Here are the few pictures we got along the way.

Our next stop was Arco to see the sail of the Devil Boat (a submarine). Arco was the first city in the world to be lit by electricity generated solely from nuclear power.

There were also pics of the nuclear power testing station and the last two pics are of Number mountain in Arco. Back in 1920 the local high school decided to go up the mountain and paint the year of their graduating class. Now it is a tradition for the high school senior class!

In case that trip didn't seem exciting, let me also add that the first hotel we stayed in had an indoor pool which the kids thoroughly enjoyed!! Our third night of the trip was our first night in Hagerman which is about an hour from Twin Falls. Gavin started complaining thta his ear was hurting around bedtime that night. Hagerman has a population less than a thousand people, so there is no urgent care or hospital nearby. We gave Gavin pain meds to see if we could make it through the night to drive down to Twin Falls in the morning but he was in so much pain that Carlton took him back to Twin Falls around 11pm that night. They went to the ER and it turned out that he had a double ear infection in his left ear. So he got ear drops and antibiotics and Carlton drove back to Hagerman. They got back around 2am and he felt much better!!

That is all for now!!
