More January Fun!

We have had a fun filled January! We all enjoyed a kids escape room which was a Dr. Suess: Grinch stole Christmas theme. We had 20 minutes to figure out riddles, solve puzzles, find keys and escape!! We did it with three minutes to spare and it was a lot of fun!!

Phones were not allowed to be used so this was the only pic we got after we completed the escape room. We plan to do another one in the Spring!

The kids both enjoyed the latest Kiwi crate Gavin received about hydraulic systems. They both got to help create different systems.

Then we checked out the Ice Castles in Midway, UT which is just past Park City. Very cold!! It was 14 when we were there around noon! Lots of cool things to see...there was a cave, tunnels, slides, sculptures, and a couple reindeer!

We had a lot of fun walking around the Ice Castles and checking out all the different features. The kids enjoyed the slides!

Avery has started an online preschool class through the local library with classes once a week. She gets to see a couple of her friends from gymnastics and learn all sorts of things. Here is a pic of her with her white board after writing her name! Pretty good for a 3 year old.

Both kids also enjoyed birthday parties this past weekend. Gavin went to a party for one of his classmates and really liked the piñata. It was his first time hitting a piñata. Avery went to a birthday party for one of her gymnastics friends and really enjoyed playing with them, especially since they had a bouncy house.

It has also been really cold here. When I woke up this morning is was 0 degrees and warmed up to 8 when we took Gavin to school! Supposed to warm up a bit...we will see!

Post Christmas Fun

Gavin was out of school for a few more days after we returned home from Phoenix, so I took them to the Children's Museum one day. There was a new Dinosaur Exhibit there and a new Bakery to play with. But they had to start with climbing in the beehive climber!

Here are a couple videos of Gavin and Avery testing their balance.

Avery enjoyed working on the car while Gavin enjoyed playing in the water feature.

The next day we went to the open gym at gymnastics so they could use up more energy! For New Year's Eve, I got a couple different party kits. So we had headbands to wear, horns to blow and party poppers. We celebrated New Year's around 7:30pm so the kids could enjoy the festivities before going to bed. The party poppers were fun but too hard for the kids to open themselves.

For New Year's Day we had lots of snow!! So we played in the backyard a bit.

I attempted to make a snow dragon! LOL You definitely cannot tell!

Christmas in Phoenix

This year we drove to Phoenix to spend a week there and celebrate Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Wheeler. Unfortunately Gavin developed an ear infection on the drive down, so right after unloading the car, he and I made a trip to Urgent Care for some antibiotics. Luckily he improved very quickly and we were all able to enjoy holiday activities.

They always love having story time with Grandpa or Grandma. They also got to have some play time with their Phoenix cousins! So we got some nice pictures of Grandparents and Grandkids.

The boys enjoyed building with Lego while the girls played with the balloon.

Avery enjoyed being in the office and pretending to work on the computer like Daddy and Grandpa.

As is typical of taking pictures of kids, you never get one with everyone smiling and looking at the camera!

We also took on the project of decorating a Gingerbread House. We did not make it though, we just bought one that was pre-made and added decorations. The kids each got two side of the house to decorate.

The kids had fun decorating but then wanted to eat it! They ended up being okay with eating a few of the candies instead.
We made a trek out to the Phoenix Zoo one day too! The kids enjoyed seeing the animals, the dinosaur exhibit and especially the playgrounds and carousel.

We got to see the squirrel monkeys up close! The kids didn't seem as excited about the monkeys.

Brushing the goats was fun too.

Both kids enjoyed some time playing with Grandpa. Gavin got to do some building with toy bricks that Grandpa had when he was a kid! Avery got to play outside with Grandpa doing a homemade ring toss game.

I will spare you pics of gift opening. Instead I will end this with one more picture of Grandpa reading and another pic of Grandma cuddles.

We had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa at Christmas! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday too!
