Thanksgiving Point

Last weekend Gavin had Fall Break, so we took advantage of the days off to go explore Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. There is a Museum of Natural Curiosity, Museum of Ancient Life, a Farm, and a Butterfly Biosphere. We spent the whole day exploring all four places! First stop was the Museum of Natural Curiosity.

Part of the climbing course near the entrance.

Avery on stage as a spider.

More of the climbing course.

Having fun with a green screen.

Trapped in the bank vault.

Avery playing a laser harp where you could change the sound by the click of a button. She preferred the sound on the video.

And here are the musicians controlling the percussion section.
From the music area, we headed outside to feed the Koi fish in the pond. The kids loved it!

The fish enjoyed it as well!!

Then we headed to the water section where they had rain clouds hanging from the ceiling and tubes that fed balls into the clouds where they rained down.

The kids also got to play with different containers to redirect water in various tables and wall displays.

Next up we went to the Museum of Ancient Life to explore dinosaurs.

Playing with sand and water.

Digging for fossils.

Next up is the Farm!

They enjoyed the pony ride and playing with the stuffed animals and play tractor but otherwise the Farm was a bit of a disappointment. They really didn't get to pet any of the animals except for one of the goats.

So our last stop was the Butterfly Biosphere which also had a nice indoor playground and lots of other insects to check out. I think the kids really enjoyed being able to hold a butterfly!! They both got to hold a couple different butterflies and were so excited about it!

We had a wonderful time at the museums! I will save our Halloween posts for another blog post!! Happy Halloween!!

Dance, Lego, Awards and more!

I will start this post off with a preview of the dance Avery's class is learning. The song is from the live action Aladdin, A Friend Like Me. Avery is in the pink and purple tutu.

Also, I have an Aerogarden and we now have mixed lettuce!! The great thing is that the kids like to eat a piece right off the garden.

Last weekend we did a hike in Brighton, UT to Lake Mary so that we could see the leaves changing colors.

The kids have already had one chance to dress up for Halloween. The Tooele Valley Railroad Museum has a Haunted Historic Trail every year. Gavin is a Ninja and Avery is a zombie princess.

Mr. Gavin was made Student of the Month at his school!! He was SO excited!! We got to see him at the ceremony and now we have a sign in our yard!

Carlton got me the Lego build of the Sanderson's Sisters house which Gavin and I have been working on for the past week or so. We have finished!

So they included the black flame candle, the Book, the three witches plus Dani with her pumpkin container for trick or treating. Of course they couldn't forget the cages where the teenage boys were kept but in the build they used skeletons. There is also purple smoke coming out of the chimney and when you turn the water wheel, the smoke moves up and down.

We also enjoyed watching the eclipse yesterday. I tried getting some pics with my phone.

So the pics of the sun all show a little crescent in the bottom part of the pic. This is how the pics came out when I used my phone! Kind of cool since it shows the actual eclipse. I also took a pic of the floor that showed the eclipse through our blinds. We hope you enjoyed the pics and videos!
